Edelweiss Pirates

About Me

The Edelweiss Pirates are a four-piece from East Lothian in Scotland.
The band’s alt-rock style is influenced by, among others, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix and Black Sabbath.
An unbridled energetic live show has captured the imaginations of East coast audiences and since forming in 2005 the quartet – all school friends – has played the World Justice Festival, Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall (Spectrum Festival), The Green Room Venue (for the Anarchist Society’s Gay Rights Movement) and at a Scottish Arts Council event at Glasgow’s BBC studios. They’ve also supported the likes of Bombskare, Serpico, Certain Death, Found and The Very.
Opting for a more ‘underground’ touring circuit – the band eschew large scale tours in favour of venues and events close to their hearts – reflects both their creative philosophy and the ideals that imbue their music and ambitions.
2009 will see new recordings and festival appearances, and the year’s perfomances include ‘Touring Consortium’, a Scottish Arts Council-funded project that takes up-and-coming acts to venues in Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
