Born as David Demko, DJ Red grew up on a steady diet of 90's pop music with no real interest in any particular band. The first tape he crammed into his walkman-tape player was 'The Beatles 1,' he got this tape just after his parents divorced in the middle of 2nd grade. He put it on loud every morning when he walked to the bus stop, rewinding the tape when the song 'Penny Lane' was over. Several years later, in 6th grade, his step-father bought the kids a brand new computer. On that same day, he bought his first cd solely on the cover art. The CD was Reanimation by Linkin Park. He Immediatley fell in love with the songs and played it on repeat every day, trying to escape the tortures of his new home and new school. He was soon introduced to a variety of bands including Green Day, Seether, Blink-182, Andrew W.K., Nappy Roots, Snoop Dogg, The Beastie Boys and more. His interest in music was sparked... Soon he began making mix cds and finding any possible way to get new music. He began to buy cds of only a few of the artists he knew. His tv habits switched from the childish nature of cartoons to a direct flow of MTV. He moved back to west point with dreams of a better life than he had in tennessee and began downloading all kinds of music, things he had seen on MTV, MTV2, and Fuse. He attened his first concert in sept. 2005; Green Day @ The Hartford Civic Center. That Christmas he got an iPod, with this tool he was able to harness the power of the internet, his mind, and his musical taste. When he started downloading music at an unstoppable rate, he decided he wanted to make his own to satisfy his hunger for audio. He formed a band called "The Voice Of Tha Voiceless" after his favorite Rage Against The Machine song at the time. Unfortunatley, after a couple months of song writing, member finding and arguing, the band was disbanded. He has become the solo-artist known as DJ Red and is attending the Scratch DJ Academy in NYC before he begins his freshman year in high school.
