Born in Los Angeles, raised in Inglewood California Tony Tig has seemingly acquired more life knowledge then most his age. He often describes his life as the sequel to the “Pursuit of Happinessâ€. Picking up basketball and music at an early age he was able to avoid the life that typically finds young black youth who are too often led astray by gangs and drugs. While in High School Tig wrote poetry and rap lyrics as just a hobby and as a high school senior having been to 3 High Schools in four years Tig decided it was time to take a chance as a rapper. He would often freestyle in the locker room with teammates before basketball games and out of state trips. After graduating from High School Tony decided to attend a Christian College in Oklahoma known as Oral Roberts University in hopes of building a stronger base as a Christian. It was there that he actively pursued a career as a Christian Rapper; two years later he was no longer at Oral Roberts, he was back home in California looking to expand his music in order to reach more people. In the process he met another Christian artist named Definite also looking to spread the Gospel through Hip-Hop, They formed the group The Cornerstone and began performing in a wide scope of places in Los Angeles. In hopes of signing a record deal they put together a rap album and changed their named to Breakin Rules hoping to garner commercial appeal.At one junction Tig was offered the chance to pursue a solo career at Universal Records but after learning they were only pursuing him as a solo artist he instantly lost interest stating loyalty was more important. The Group eventually signed a deal with a little to unknown record label with the belief that this was their time. But Little by little the group started turning away from their Christian roots and eventually found themselves in the mix with most hip-hop artists who generally never talk about anything other then Money,Sex,Drugs,Woman,and Violence. The album they recorded with the label was never released. Soon after, the group separated to pursue different musical ventures. Tig although trying to maintain his status as a Christian didn't translate any of it into his music as he received positive accolades from his peers he soon found himself in the same position as the rapper's he once criticized. And as a result it affected his life outside of the booth, he began using and selling weed and even became suicidal at one point in time. 2008 after becoming a father to a beautiful baby girl to his then fiancee he realized God was sending him a wake up call. Tig made a vow to God to be the Christian Man that he needs to be for his daughter and people all over the world. He has re-dedicated himself to Christ he recently joined the church CITY OF PRAISE and is currently working on an album titled "God Willing" do out the summer 2009. He is recently quoted as saying. "Christ is the only reason I'm still here and I know it's because his purpose for my life isn't complete, so it's time to pick up my cross and keep Marching forward."
