James In Chiba

Greetings from the rice fields of southern Chiba in beautiful Japan!

About Me

Been in Japan over 3 years now. Husband and father who keeps busy here in the countrside running my own business building websites and selling products online.

Previously, I lived and taught English in the middle of Tokyo for over a year, followed by a couple more years down in Kamakura.

Moved again last fall to try and get away from the crowds - and succeeded! Currently living in an big old wooden Japanese -styled house right next to a rural train station between rice fields and the beach on the south-east coast of the Boso Penninsula a couple hours outside of Tokyo.

It's a quiet life! Fresh vegetables, clean air and miles of empty beach.

But it does get little boring sometimes - luckily, I have good company...

My Interests

Computers, Libertarian Science-Fiction, Japanese Food and Drink, Cheap Kaiten Zushi and Expensive Sake.

I'd like to meet:

Set up this myspace account hoping to dig around and find others who live around here - both Japanese and Gaijin - who might be interested in getting together once and a while for drinks and conversation about life here in Japan.

I get up into Tokyo quite a bit too - so if you live anywhere near Tokyo/Chiba, click here and send me a friend request .

Music:

I usually keep hiNRG and various techno genres pumping through shoutcast when I'm working online.

Movies:

The Blues Brothers, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Fight Club, The Day After, Atomic Cafe, Tampopo, Dead Man, Ocean's 11, Gundam (First One), Mononokehime

Television:

I don't watch much TV, except for Beat Takeshi variety shows. I miss 'Super Jockey' very very much. Also, Doctor Who was a very good series in the 1970's and early 1980's - they don't make quality TV shows like that anymore.

Books:

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Think and Grow Rich (original version), The Creature From Jekyll Island, 1984, Atlas Shrugged - although it took me a month to read.

Heroes:

Thomas Jefferson. No, seriously, Thomas Jefferson.
