Funk.Soul.Family, a young band of fresh-faced university students, has quickly amassed a strong following in the New Orleans music scene. Performing at local hot-spots such as Tipitina’s, The Maple Leaf and The Dragon’s Den, they have made a name for themselves as an energetic band that keeps crowds enthralled with their smooth and funky vibe. The 7-piece band’s sound is influenced by classic and neo soul, hip-hop and funk with a healthy dose of jazz harmony. FSF was formed in 2008 by Jonny Salud, who brought them together to perform his original songs. They made their debut at Tipitina’s Homegrown Night that November, where they drew over 265 fans. Since Salud’s departure in January 2009, the band has continued to progress, letting its natural chemistry develop and take its sound to the next level.
