About Me

Born in the great state of California, to parents of French/Cuban/Venezuelan descent. He began to learn the keyboard at the age of 9. Never taking formal lessons until the age of 14 where he began the acoustic guitar self-taught in the beginning. Living the bulk of his life in Florida, he moved to Michigan at the age of 16. There he finished High School and at the time was in 2 different rock and punk bands. He started college at OCC in MI and got his first classical guitar and was inundated with the beautiful sounds and colors of the instrument. Moving back to Florida and continuing his studies in music at BCC under the guidance of Lou Mowad and Yasemin Berkson, Christian began to pursue serious study of the classical guitar. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Bcc where he continued his studies at Florida Atlantic University under the guidance of Dr. Ken Keaton. Christian has performed in the master classes of well-known concert artist such as the L.A.G.Q, The Assads, Roland Dyens, Ana Vidovic and others. An aficionado of flamenco, he has studied the flamenco guitar and cajon in Granada, Spain at the famous Carmen De Las Cuevas. He continues to pursue the study and art of flamenco. In 2005, he Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BM in performance from FAU. At the time he also developed a keen interest in world music and culture. He learned to play Brazilian percussion instruments such as the Berimbau, Pandeiro, Atabaque, ganza, agogo, tamborim, surdo. Aerophones, membranophones and chordophones such as the didgeridoo (Australia), doumbek (Middle East/North Africa), duduk (Armenia), cuatro (Venezuela) and numerous others. This interest began in the sequence of Music history taught by Ethnomusicologist Dr. Cunningham where he was first exposed to the discipline and world music. Christian is currently pursuing a Masters in Ethnomusicology at the University of Arizona. He has also remained an active instructor for the past seven years in two distinct music academies teaching guitar and piano, as well as privately. He is also working on a full album including originals, world music and classical.
