I'm have been a single parent since 1999. I am a licensed physical therapist assistant and love my work! I'd love to continue my education and go all the way to be a Physical Therapist, but I am content and satisfied with what I am doing right now and am not sure if that will change. My children have been my life for the last 20+ years and I would do anything for them...even if that means allowing them to hit rock bottom (although it pains me more than I can stand it)!
My son is unique and challenging and I believe it's his goal in life to make sure I'm never bored, even if that means costing me my mind or heart in the process! He graduated in December 2006...something that I wasn't sure would ever happen and I'm soooo proud of his accomplishment. Since turning 18 he's gotten very lost in a world of drugs and alcohol, but I hold the hope in my heart that he'll find his way before it's too late and he becomes reprobate. That's my tearful prayer every day. I pray he finds his way back to Jesus and back to himself. My heart is broken to pieces over this.
My daughter has been the thread that's held me together many times. She is an inspiration and a rock. At only 16 (and since she was 8 years old!), she is focused on solid goals for her future of being a cardiothoracic surgeon and a missionary. I am so blessed and proud of her. In 2008, I was in the hospital for a week and she rode her bike about 6+ miles everyday to take care of me, bring me things from home (pj's, slippers, coffee), wash my hair, and she was only 15 years old then! She is my biggest blessing!
There is only one person more important than my children to me and that is Jesus. I am a Christian and have strong beliefs that cannot be swayed because I know exactly what God did for me when he sent His son as a sacrifice for me. I am the one some of my friends argue with about religious issues, but call when they need prayer. They know I will pray hard and am serious when it comes to my faith. There is nothing more important than that! Friends, family, and anyone else you meet will at one point or another let you down in some way, but Jesus will never let you down. He is always there and His love is perfect. He has no alterior motives, and He isn't in it for what's in it for Him. He wants the best for those who love Him even more so than we want for our children or loved ones. He is the one that will be there when all those you love hurt you, break your heart or turn their backs on you. He is always there with open arms, love and comfort. One last thing I'll share....Jesus died for YOUR sins. If YOU were the ONLY person on earth, He would have come for ONLY YOU! He loves you more than ANYONE could and knows every bit of you down to how many hairs are on your head! That is how important you are to Him. He is always waiting and hoping you will choose to follow Him and let Him into your heart so He can help you through this sometimes difficult life on earth. All you need to do is talk to Him and ask Him into your heart.
