Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981, in the small town of Kentwood, Louisiana,to parents Jamie and Lynne. Before Britney could walk, she was singing her heart out, and her parents knew they had a star on their hands. Her mom Lynne says, "Sometimes her constant singing could be annoying, and she needed somewhere to let out all her positive energy". Her older brother Bryan, can tell you all about Britney's other singing career - singing into her hairbrush to Madonna in her room!
Britney won lots of awards for her singing, and she says that she got "bored of local talent shows, and wanted to do something bigger and better". In Atlanta, there were auditions for 'The Mickey Mouse Club', a 50's show being given a revival. Britney begged her mother to take her, because it was unheard of to the residents of Kentwood that you would go all the way to Atlanta for anything, as they were (and are) such a small, close-knit southern community. In the end her mother took her, but she was rejected, because she was considered too young at 8 years old. But they recongised that she had talent, so the producer recommended her to a New York agent. Britney spent 3 years studying dance, music and performing arts in Manhattan and was doing plenty of commercials at the same time. It was during this time she played an evil, murderous child in the off-Broadway play 'Ruthless' in 1991. She was 10 years old and had already achieved a lot. In 1992, she performed on, and won an American TV talent show called 'Star Search', wearing a big dress complete with a big bow in her hair, belting out a song with her big voice.
At Age 11, Britney was considered old enough to become a Mouseketeer. She was the youngest there, and it was on the show that she met Christina Aguilera, JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake. She spent two years there and then the show was cancelled. She went home and spent a year doing normal teenage stuff at high school - studying, playing basketball, having a boyfriend and becoming Homecoming Queen. She, again, became restless, and decided to try and launch a solo music career. Demo tapes were sent around, and she was informed that auditions were being held for a girl group called Innosense. Britney declined, as she wanted to be a solo artist, not part of a group. Larry Rudolph, her New York Agent knew that pop was coming back, and there was not a single, young female doing it on her own, so took her and her mother to sing at record labels in New York and was signed to Jive Records, and the rest is history.
Britney Spears is said to be the most well- known popstar in the world today. Along with selling millions of albums, she also had a successful movie "Crossroads." Britney also teamed up with Elizebeth Arden in 2004, To launch what would become the most successful perfume line in history.
In September 2004, Britney Spears married back-up dance Kevin Ferderline. In September of 2005, Britney and kevin welcomed their fist child, a boy name Sean Preston. In the Spring of 2006, Britney Announced on the David Letterman show that they were expecting their second child.
