DJ Matryx

DJ Matryx (Jason Hedges) is a 33 year old DJ and Electronic music producer from Maryland whose artistic styles cover almost the entire electronic music spectrum, from Ambient to Hard Trance to Drum 'n' Bass.Matryx's humble beginnings as a fledgling DJ began in 1993. Fresh out of high school and pimpin his gold '74 VW bug, he landed his first gig at a roller rink out side of Frederick, MD. With little experience, and an even littler budget, he purchased his first set of turntables. Soon after, he was spinning for clubs and college campuses throughout Maryland and DC.One night while experimenting with wave editing programs, Matryx discovered the practice of sound manipulation. He had accidentally reversed a drum sample and, after listening to it, decided "it sounded pretty cool" and reinserted back into the track. So fond of his remix, was he that he went on to remix many more of his favorite tracks. Soon his inspiration grew far beyond the bounds of simply remixing his CD collection, to the birth of his first solo production in 1998 entitled "Drop It". It was a loose interpretation of Baltimore house music, set as an arrangement of drum, vocal, and bass loops.Today, DJ Matryx, inspired by artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold, and Tiesto, continues to produce tracks that incorporate his unique brand of electronic rhythms, bass grooves, effects and samples.
