This group of people are worshippers at large and are lovers of praise and worship music. It is my endeavor to create and facilitate such events as Worship Encounters to allow lovers of praise and worship to come and fellowship and enjoy an evening in the presence of the Lord.The event, Worship Encounter, is stemmed off of an idea given to Wil Rhodes in 2003. The idea of bringing a people together just simply to praise and worship God through music "for the whole service" was the inspiration.The name Worship Encounter was given to Wil one night while watching a television commercial in which worship CDs were being advertized. He noticed in the background of the media that there were stadiums filled with people just worshipping God. He was then lead to focus more on the identity of the people. He noticed the lack of diversity and more so the lack of people of color. This striking discovery was overwhelming and disheartening to know that these experiences were not prevelant in the black-church.Believed to be given inspiration by God, Wil then fashioned the first Worship Encounter in Durham, NC on February 27, 2004. Guest worship leaders, musicians, and praise singers from various churches were brought together for such an awesome occasion. Several worship encounters have since follwed WE05,WE06 parts 1 & 2, WE07. Now there are many facets of the fellowship of worshippers where interpretive worship (sign language and dance) have been added to enhance each experience. Also now there are new offsprings of the original worship encounters such MANifested Worship (Men's Praise Team and worship experience)/Worship N Da Streetz (geared towards our youth and street life)/and Worship In The Park (spending time in God's natural elements).Worship Encounter is not a musical, church service, concert, or venue of promotion. It is simply a time set aside for serious worshippers to congregate in UNITY to experience God's presence. I pray that all that are lovers of God and his presence would come and rest in his Glory.
