Selective Mutism sucks!......I am me, thats all there is to it, basic run down.....I'm moody, and grumpy. If you can't handle that, oh well! I grew up in Union, NJ. I went to summer camp at Camp Nejeda in Stillwater, NJ. I got married in 1998 (changing my name of course from Brandzel to Rozens) to my dear tolerant husband Marty, to this day I have no idea why he still comes home to me, but man am I glad he does. In 2001 we had our son Mitchell who is my whole world. I am a mom first! I gave up the party scene a long time ago, I am now a boring mom, who spends alot of time at her sons school currently as either a substitute teacher and on non working days as a volunteer. In my spare time, I dress up like Jaba the Hut and run around my neighborhood. Hmmm..... did I wake you up now after reading all my boring stuff?? If you have any questions, just ask.

My son my world Mitchell suffers from Selective Mutism, every day is a struggle, and I want more people to understand how anxiety doesn't just affect adults, but children in a way that breaks my heart everyday. to watch my baby not be able to speak to his classmates, and teachers. Not utter a word at school, not once be able to go buy lunch because he wont ask for what he wants, this hurts, and please dont say he does it because he is controlling us. I have spent so much money on doctors, and therapists all to say it will take time, so please dont tell me to put him on the bus, and he will have to deal. Because guess what? He can't, and I as a mom won't throw him to the wolves. I need to support him in every way Marty and I can. And even if it means living in a card board box, thats what we will do. ANXIETY SUCKS!"Suffering in Silence"
By Dr. Elisa Shipon-BlumWhat is Selective Mutism? It is a beautiful little 4 yr old who loves to talk to her dolls…….But she cannot speak outside the home….It is an adorable 6 yr old boy who runs around boisterously in his backyard ............. but stands expressionless, staring into space, when he enters his classroom….It is a 11 yr old little girl who sings and writes beautiful songs at home…………………but cannot verbalize a sound to her teacher and classmates…It is a 15 yr old boy who loves computers; roughhousing and joking with his best friend…………….but cannot talk to his best friend at school or other social events…It is a sensitive and perceptive little 5 yr old girl who tells her parents all the exciting and fun things she wants to do at her birthday party…………………………..but has never spoken a word to anyone outside the home….It is a comical 6 yr old girl who dances and sings in the entertainment room while her family proudly watches on……….but, stands motionless, and cannot utter a sound when her class rehearses for the school musical….It is a 9 yr old boy cheering loudly and intensely as he watches his favorite hockey team score a goal……. but sits alone at a party and sadly turns away when another child approaches him.It is an artistic 7-year-old girl who prides herself on showing off her artwork to her family and two best friends…….. but cannot talk to these friends at school….What is Selective Mutism? It is a child suffering in silenceDr. Elisa Shipon-Blum dedicates this poem to her daughter, Sophia BlumHere's to the kids who are different,The kids who don't always get A's,The kids who have ears twice the size of their peers,And noses that go on for days...Here's to the kids who are different,The kids they call crazy or dumb, The kids who don't fit, with the guts and the grit,Who dance to a different drum...Here's to the kids who are different,The kids with the mischievous streak,For when they have grown, as history's shown,It's their difference that makes them unique. copyright 1982 by Digby Wolfe, All Rights Reserved
