Hand Of Death

About Me

We formed in June 2006 after becoming disillusioned with the local scene and bonding over a mutual desire to create music with the simple philosophy of passion, aggression and emotion. We take inspiration from a wide range of styles, with each member adding their own unique influence.
In April 2007, we embarked on our first tour with Residual Effect, RSJ and I Remain, released our first cd "We Only Kill Each Other", and parted ways with our bassist. We made the decision not to seek a replacement, and have continued as a 4 piece ever since. We have previously played shows with with awesome bands such as Go It Alone, Yacopsae, Magrudergrind, Staathaat and Cathode.
Hand Of Death represents many things. A hand can be used to give a loving caress, to help someone in times of need or distress, or to strike them down with deadly force. We are blessed with these gifts; it is up to us how we choose to use them.

I hate to use the word "metalcore"... I used to listen to it an awful lot and then with the increase in popularity came a torrent of weak bands that were riding on the wave...labels put out so much poor quality stuff that you couldn't wade through and find anything good. After hearing Hand Of Death though, I feel pretty bad that I've maybe been missing out on a resurgence of great, fast, brutal metalcore.
Hand Of Death brought back my love for metal fueled hardcore with their down tuned guitars, death metal influences and what I assume must be a love of mid 90's bands like Deadguy, Guilt, Snapcase, Endeavour, Morning Again and a heap of others. Can't wait to get my hands on the cd...so until then I'm off to dig out my old Victory / Trustkill / Goodlife records and destroy my ears.

Of all the things you expect metallers to be up to, helping a charity wouldn’t be the first to come to mind but a few Sundays ago 11 bands took part in the Metal Massacre all to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
First to take to the stage were Belfast noise merchants Hand Of Death. The hard/metalcore four piece had little inspiration with a floor occupying about 4 people as many sat around the sides where a seat was essential for a gig spanning 10 hours. However the guys blasted their way through a half hour set consisting of speed death anthems giving anyone in attendance one of the best sets of the day. 8/10
