About Scot:
Multi-instrumentalist Scot Snow first picked up the guitar at age nine. Twenty minutes later he put it down and didn't touch it again for nearly eight years. It wasn't until he was in his twenties, after seeing Leo Kottke live, that he got serious about the instrument.
Inbetween these two events was his discovery of the music of Jean Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream which led to a consequent obsession with electronic music and synthesizers. Unable to afford the much lusted after Yamaha DX7, Scot instead settled for one of Yamaha's cheaper electronic keyboards.
Completely self-taught, he now uses a combination of his Ovation acoustic guitar and software synths to create epic yet intimate soundscapes which skip on the border between acoustic and electronic music.
Determinedly independent, Scot retains no agent or manager and rejects the notion that music needs a corporate media middleman in order to reach an audience.
A gigging machine, Scot has played dozens of shows in just the last few years and is as happy playing a community hall as he is a concert hall, believing the performance is the key rather than the venue.
His solo acoustic 2005 CD, Drive It Home, has sold out three print runs and in December 2007 he released the EP Solis. As of early 2008 he is at work on music for several film and TV projects, mostly for the European market and the next full length CD release.
"... one of those surprising performers whose music, if you let it, can change your life, and if he is not careful could inspire a whole new guitar movement." - The Folk, Jazz & Blues Bulletin (Rebekah Armstrong).
"The closest thing we have to a guitar monk ... his relationship to the instrument is inspiring." - Paly Palladino, percussionist/founder, Tribal Rhythm.
