Monthy

Monthy is a Norwegian producer and club promotor and manager, currently living in Bergen, Norway
It all started with the classic disco tracks from his dads old youth disco collection of records from the 70's. Then came the 80's with game consoles, C64, Atari XE and Amigas...and tape decks and of course loads of rave on the radio. That was back in 1988/89. Most people in Horten back then didn't listen to rave, so Monthy went on his lone path until he hooked up with his mates Christian aka DerMoon and former Nifelheim BBS owner Magne aka Magz in 1991. He then started tracking on Commodore Amiga with the famous Protracker tracking software and shitloads of hex-codes to make the samples trig and tweak. Octamed from the finnish programmer Teijo Kinnunen was the later favourite with its cool midi implementations and 14 bit (!) soundcard support, so it was also natural to move on to synthesizers and samplers after discovering the power of MIDI! Mpc 2000 was later the main production unit.
The Amiga 1200, one of the most creative computers ever made, made by a team of idealistic and genius american engineers unfortuantly shut down by the dark sides of capitalism. Monthys main production unit from 1993-1997.
Startet up as a DJ in 1995 after been playing around with synths and computers for some years. Did a few parties, did a recidency plus played once in a while on local clubs in Vestfold besides constantly making music. Then after moving to Oslo in 2000 he quickly started to work his way up as a promotor and DJ in the clubscene. Throwing his first underground party The Chilly Basement on a secret location in Torshov, later on Friday Live Sessions, a live-dj/jam session concept, held on Huset (later known as Killyrego), then the possibility to run a club popped up and the club Serum (check www.serum.no ) was started in 2003. Serum did three seasons in Oslo on two different locations, both in Storgata and in Prinsens Gate (the old Cube Club/Apoteket location).
After shutting down Serum as a club it was transformed into a event-team, with djs and promotors like Asbjørn E, Hystereo, DJ Cave, plumbo and Eena. The team did a few parties around in Oslo before again getting the chance to run a club. The club PI ( www.clubpi.no ) was started january 2006 at the same time as the launch of the Norwegian Netradio, Radio Skranglebass ( www.skranglebass.no ) . Also a project runned by Monthy and his girl and partner in crime, Eena. A netradio loaded with techno, minimal, italo, disco, house, dnb, breakbeats and ambient.

The Akai MPC 2000. MPC means Midi Production Center . Owned from 1997-2002. One of the best and most creative production equipments that is still around.
Monthy moved to Bergen in 2007. He is still a producer besides running the project mentioned above. Being influenced by early ravescene, and still beeing madly addicted to Chigago House and Detroit Techno, Monthy manages to create atmospheric dance tracks that pleases both the listeners and the dancers, and that finally resultet in 11 tracks released on Total Wipes in Italy in 2006.
