About Me

Life is short -- make the most of it!!! I received a second chance at LIFE and LOVE! After a year of dialysis I was fortunate to receive a kidney from a generous family that experienced a tremendous loss and made a courageous decision. I have had my kidney ~ which I fondly call Sydney ~ get it Sydney the kidney ~ for 17 years on Jan. 29, 2007. I was also fortunate enough to meet the love of my life, Gary (a heart recipent) at a Second Chance Celebrity Softball Game. This is a fun game of softball in that transplant recipients play against local celebrities. It's an excellent way to show that organ donation does indeed give life to those that could / would otherwise die. There is whole lot more to me, of course, but this what I want to share right now!

My Interests

Organ Donor Awareness, Softball, Bowling, Reading Celebrity Magazines and watching reality TV.

I'd like to meet:

I would love to meet Kevin Bacon!!! I know it's cheesy cheesy, but I've kinda had a thing for him for over 30 years. I also wouldn't mind hanging out with Jon Bon Jovi, Bill Gates, Donald Trump or Benjamin Franklin for a day. A wide spectrum, huh?!It would also be awesome to talk with MLK Jr or JFK..

Music:

I like all kinds of music, but tend to stay with the 80s and 90s when given a choice.

Movies:

My favorite movies are Gone with the Wind and Tombstone. I have seen the Sweetest Thing about 6 times, so I really like that movie too. Others that I watch over on a regular basis: There's Something About Mary, Armagedon, A Perfect Storm, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and The Wedding Planner. Not really all that cool, huh?

Television:

I watch a lot of TV. If I had to chose one channel it would be court TV. My favorite shows right now are Boston Legal, Greys Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Rules of Engagement, 30 Rock and Brothers and Sisters. Reality TV -- The Real World, The Surreal Life, Survivor, Two A Days, The Real Housewives of Orange County, Americas Next Top Model, The Bad Girls Club...I told you I watch a lot of reality TV!

Books:

What about them??? ha ha Actually, right now I am in the middle of a book called "We are Their Heaven"....why we never lose touch with our loved ones that are dead.I had to bury the love of my life on March 15th. It really, really, really sucks. REALLY!!!!

Heroes:

Organ Donors! My husband -- he was such a good man, and a fighter for life and what is right. He was amazing. Plus, he loved me a lot too!My little brother Kent is also considered one of my heros -- he makes me want to be a better person. My big brother Robert because he has always been an awesome big brother, and he is my friend. That really means a lot to me.My in-laws are pretty dang special too. They were able to give me something that I had longed for all my life -- not just their son either. :-) Lots of encouragement, love, acceptance, guidance, unconditional love and approval. I had these things from some members of my immediate family, but my in-laws did not HAVE to give it to me.
