Tyranny Rhythms and Rhymes Now Available!

About Me

Inside Joke first got thousands of heads bobbin and crowds rock'n in College where he was the Univeristy of Kentucky "Wildcat" mascot from 1996-1999. It was here that his career as a world wide rap phenom launched his career as he began dropp'n dope rhymes at party's and clubs with his crew--the boys from the acoustical trio Due Season. Sometime later, Inside Joke wrote is first song about "Big L" the mascot for the Lexington Legends. From there came an onslaught of other songs, which he crafted in his multi-million dollar home studio (a.k.a. "da lab") that were really only funny to his friends (and they pretty much still are only funny to his friends)...thus "Inside Joke" was born! Inside Joke has a crib in Lexington, Kentucky where He's married to Lady K (his "baby's momma") and together they have two children--"Emma Kat" and "Little G Lewis." Inside Joke has also had the opportunity to take part of a major motion picture called Beneath the Mask: Portrait of an American Ninja in which he was highly acclaimed for his portrayal of "Billy Jeff Martin," a recently divorced truck driver seeking out a new life and career as an American Ninja. He is currently working on a new film with Cubit Productions due out later this year. On September 4, Inside Joke plans to release his first album digitally on the web. "This Album hopefully will make people get crunk with a smile on their face," says Joke. The album (yet to be titled) will include lots of collaborations with artists including, Daddy-J, G Lova, The Silver Creek Twins, and T.O. "You can expect a lot of groves that will get you really going crazy on the dance floor," says Joke. "My goal is to really confuse people and have them momentarily pondering the question, 'Is this guy serious?" only to instantaneously realize that they don't care if I'm serious or not because the beat is so hype and the rhymes so smooth that they don't have time to ask such questions... all they really have time to do is to get their grove on and get in on quick!"
(Inside Joke is really Gavin Duerson. Gavin is currently employed by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and serves as the Area Director. This is subject to change as soon as many of the contributors of FCA in Lexington discover this website.)
TYRANNY RHYTHMS AND RHYMES TRACK LIST/BREAKDOWN:
Part 1:
MULE DAY / SITTIN' ON DA THRONE: Several years ago I went to Columbia, TN for their annual Mule Day Festival. I got sick and sat on the "throne" all weekend. While I was there I penned this song. The joke all weekend was that I should have stopped eating so much of this chocolate cake that was made and left out all weekend long (with the lid to it's side). With every bite, we would all suggest that we should "put the lid on that cake." Truthfully, it was whacked-up genetics that most likely was the cause for my now infamous weekend.
CARPET ON YA CHEST: This song intends to bring “harry back.” It was inspired by the yells i received one day while on a shirtless jog across town. The second verse documents the true story my attempt to go hairless a few years back when dared by my friend and co-worker Chris Morgan. While initially it was a nice experience, I ended up regretting it... not only because of the pain and itch, but because i had betrayed my manhood.
MAMMAW JOKES: Yes... this is actually my grandma (I call her “Mamaw”) on this track droppin' it like it's hot. Mamaw is one of the funniest people I know and you get a little taste why here... Each verse is a joke that she has told recently (she's always telling jokes). My favorite part is the very end... when recording the song I asked her to give me a good laugh... you hear what she gave me and yes, it does “sound like one of them horror movies!”
WHEN YOU GO: I've been advised not to go into too much details about this song (because of the embarrassing nature of the content). However, you can pretty much just listen to the story and it speaks for itself...fool! I will say that this song is my personal favorite. It sort of is supposed to come off as an old school U2 remix. I think it works really well.
JOKESTA DANCE: A special prize awaits for the individual who can do the best rendition of this dance. Entry's should be posted on You Tube and a link emailed to me (for posting here on this site). I'm not sure what the prize will be, but it will probably blow your mind... much like this dance will do to all the people who watch you do it in the club or at the next wedding reception you attend. Much love to G-Lova for the collab. G-Lova is one of the hottest dancehall artists around!
PRAYER WARRIOR: I've had the idea of this song for a few years... it wasn't until recently that it all came together. I performed a "remix" version of this song prior to actually having the song completed (see videos). This songs seeks to cleverly incorporate Native American themes to the concept of being a prayer warrior. Steele Harmon, the inventor of the FCA "prayer coin" (which makes a great golf ball marker and carries the slogan "KY Prayer Warrior" with the FCA logo on it and the scripture 1 John 5:13-15) is probably the one most deserving of props for this song. This is probably the most serious of my songs...and potentially the most offensive.
CHILLIN' IN BEREA: A vintage song about my hometown (Berea, Kentucky) that is intended to give all the Jokesta's “something they can ride too!” All my hommies in Berea, KY will really feel the vibe on this track, but i believe that anyone who has luv for the streets the grew up on will be able to do the “Berea Bounce” and feel the Kentucky love. Special thanks to the Silver Creek Twins for their down home vocals.
MARK SIXTEEN ONE FIVE: This is just a fun party song that we did for an FCA event a few year's back.
Part: 2
HE'S DA WILDCAT: This song is about...who else? The Kentucky Wildcat! I started working on this song a few year's ago after my stint as The Wildcat and while my brother, Ca$$iu$ Clay, was in the middle of his three years as the states favorite beast. We hoped that we could get it played at the UK football games... I never finished the song though...until now! We will be posting a music video to this song soon that will certainly be a favorite on You Tube... my brother and I have plenty of hilarious "Wildcat" footage... who knows maybe this song will turn up in Commonwealth Stadium this season? We already know that it's being bumped in the jeeps outside at all the tailgate parties!
BIG L ANTHEM: This song is written for the original Lexington Legend, “Big L.” Several year's ago Ca$$iu$ Clay was Big L and this song was an ode to Lexington's favorite legend. This song is intended to be an “old school” jam (something like Big L would have rocked in his Camera back in the 80's). I do believe that it is just a matter of time before this song is bumpin' at Applebee's Park...
RALLY TIME: “Rally” is one of the most amazing furry creatures that you'll ever see. This song is for him and little G Lewis! Www.audienceofoneentertainment.com to check Rally out!
BOUNCIN WIT T-BONE: T-Bone, the mascot for the San Antonio Rampage (American Hockey League) will be able to bounce like none other once this song begins to spread through out the Lone Star State! T-Bone (Dave Hanson, former UK “Wildcat”) is one of the baddest bull's on the ice! I really like how the music for this song turned out... very much a slower tempo song with a sweet hard hitting hockey flavored guitar riff.
Bonus:
WHEN YOU GO (EXTENDED JOKE'S MIX): This extended jam was so tight that we had to include it as a bonus track. This features all the lyrics from the song that inspired “When You Go” sung by T.O. And featuring a little soul from Schudog. Exactly eight minutes of pure soul... perfect for a lite jog around the block or a sweaty funktified grove on the dance floor.
