Dave Scalia

Dave Scalia is currently a senior in the Jacobs School of Music Jazz Studies program and is studying with Professors David Baker and Steve Houghton. Born in Madison,WI Dave grew up in a musical family and began to play drums at an early age following in his father's footsteps (drummer and drum collector Chuck Scalia). He Studied classical percussion in addition to drum set for several years before accepting a scholarship at the Jacobs school in 2004. By the age of 17, Dave was working with professional musicians of multiple genres. In the past 5 years he has had the privilege to work with such notable musicians as Maurice Brown, Frank Glover, Corey Wilkes, Harrison Bankhead, Scott Hesse, Randy Brecker, Claude Sifferlen, The Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, Everette Greene, Michael Weiss, Rob Dixon, David Baker Big Band, Pablo Ziegler, and perform internationally at such venues as the Siena Jazz fest, Carnegie Hall, and the Chicago Jazz Fest. Recently, Dave has been selected to attend the Ravinia Steans institute for Young Jazz Artists.
