About Me


Cecilia Danell was born in Sweden in 1985 but moved to Ireland in the spring of 2004. She studied fine arts at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology 2004- 2008 and graduated with a first class Honours degree, specialising in painting. Upon graduation she received the Allied Irish Bank paint student of the year award. Cecilia was selected for the 2007 Claremorris Open exhibition where she was awarded an Emerging artist award and has also exhibited in the Crow Gallery in Dublin together with Nicky Larkin, curated by Maeve Mulrennan. Her degree show display was selected for review as part of a Critics choice feature in the Autumn 2008 issue of Circa art magazine.
Cecilia is a member of Engage Art Studios in Galway City. She received a young artist's training award from Liljeholmska Stiftelsen, Sweden in 2009 and has recently exhibited in two members shows at Engage studios during the Volvo Ocean Race and Galway Arts Festival as well as being involved in a group project about the Galway Docklands. She has also exhibited in a group show in Galway Arts Centre titled 'Ealaion at Lunasa'.
She has a passion for retro design, music, vintage dresses, animation and various artistic activities. Website: www.ceciliadanell.com..

My summer
