D-NUTZ

Hello guys, my name is Derek, I’m 24 years old. I’m from Canyon Texas, a small town just south of Amarillo. If you’re not familiar with Canyon, its one of the most boring places on the planet, but we managed to have a good time all the time, and I guess I survived with a few brain cells. I grew up with two older brothers who I look up to and respect more than they will ever know. I have an extremely strong and respectable mother who has a huge heart and incredible determination. She is kind, generous, and compassionate and all I ever could ask for in a mother. My dad is hands down the hardest worker I have ever known, someone who you can count on and go to for anything, he would drop everything and drive across the country to bail me out of jail, give his last dollar, the shoes off his feet, and the shirt off his back if I needed it. I have the best group of friends in the entire world; the kind of friends that you know with 100% certainty you will be friends with for the rest of your life no matter what. The kind of friends that know when something is wrong and pick you up, the kind of friends you can fight with today and know that it won’t be a big deal tomorrow, the kind of friends you not only get along with.. but you love like family. I feel like I’ve been through just about everything, I’ve been on top, been knocked down, got lucky, been completely screwed over, I’ve made good decisions, and a lot of bad ones, had exactly what I wanted and threw it all away. My life has changed more in the last four months than it had in the last 4 years. God has changed me in so many ways, and I cannot begin to explain the impact he has made on me as a person in a short amount of time. I believe that life is 10% of what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it. I believe that if things aren’t the way you want them then it’s up to you to change them. I believe that God only gives us opportunities and that’s all we can ask for, it’s up to the individual to take advantage and make the most of them. No one is harder on me or expects more from me than myself. I really couldn’t ask for anything more in my life. I am probably the most blessed person on the planet. I am currently in College Station getting my MBA and loving every minute of it. I want to make every day better than the last and be a positive impact on everyone around me. All I ever want to do is live up to my own expectations and my God given potential.
