Love to read, whether that be airport paperback novels or dense Ayn Rand type blueprints for a society that actually promotes and protects individual liberties. Also enjoy keeping up with the world through an inordinate amount of web surfing. Lately I'm learning more about shooting, cooking, and keeping house as well...
Jesus Christ; James Madison; Alexander Hamilton; Ayn Rand; Janice Rogers Brown; Donald Rumsfeld; Billy Graham; Condoleeza Rice; James Taranto; P.J. O'Rourke; Ronald Reagan; F.A. Hayek; Milton Friedman
Generally I think hip-hop, rap type music is a waste of time and an assault on my ears (and brain, for that matter); but I'll give most anything else a try.
Hmm. Have to say the Ballad of Ricky Bobby is destined to be a new classic...and I can't wait to see the outtakes and deleted scenes. Classics I'll watch repeatedly: With Honors; Pulp Fiction; Usual Suspects; Sabrina; Love Actually; Top Gun; Pretty Woman; Tommy Boy; and the list goes on from there...
These days we watch: CSI (original) and CSI: NY; Criminal Minds; NCIS; Greys Anatomy; Gilmore Girls; How I Met Your Mother; and, when I need a good cry, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition...
I'll just include a long quote from my favorite book, "Atlas Shrugged":
"In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man’s proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it’s yours."
