About Me

I have been making music since 1990 - many different styles from electronica, reggae, drum and bass, ambient and minimalist music. I have released reggae and electronic stuff as Silicon Drum, dark electronica and musiq concrete as Silver Filter and minimalist/ambient/classical music as John Blanchard. I also make visual percussive music as K-DNK and psychedelic sound and light shows as Ultravision. The only instrument I have mastered is the triangle - not the small metal one but the 10 foot sided, 400 KG, wooden variety that is played by throwing bouncing balls into the structure. Have a look at my videos to see it - or go to www.silicondrum.com for plenty more. Regarding my music above, the Requiem was written for my father in the week between his death and his funeral after a long battle against cancer. 'Slow' is from an album of pieces inspired by Philip Glass's music for the film Koyaanisqatsi and 'A piano going back on itself loses its way in the east' (to give it its full title) is from an album of meditative pieces called 'Airstream'. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
