BIO:Jose Melo, the name behind Dj Quiz, is the breeze that keeps
coming from the portuguese tech house scene.Jose began his dj career in 2000 but he lives in music since the
end of 80’s beginning of 90’s with some
indie and alternative rock bands as guitar player and vocals. At this
time his compositions are a lot influenced by electronic music elements, a
passion that begins to take shape. With his fellow partner Hugo Begucho he
begins their first electronic live project, Luna Tunes, playing with the best
djs in Portugal and feature in several events, it's an introdution to a new
World.We are in 1996 and electronic music doesn’t stop changing, new
influences, new artists, new ideas, and he is no exception, demonstrating a
will for the fresh and new sounds that keep coming from all over the globe.In 2000 he starts his solo carrer as dj and producer. He loves the
interaction with the crowd and the miracle of creating. Soon his tracks begin
to impress artists and labels, and releases his first original track on Dj
Vibe’s Kaos records, “Simple as that†is the hit that brings Dj Quiz forward.
He starts a row of original releases and remixes for several labels like Wrong
recs, 4Kenzo, Kaos recs, Reverberations, Pure Funk, Eukahouse or Electrik-Bass.At this time Dj Quiz is an artist that other countries want to see
as well, what he prooved with his tracks he now prooves as a dj, from San
Francisco to London people wants to see the portuguese finest. From Miami’s WMC
to London’s The End,everyone wellcomes Dj Quiz as the new value on the
underground scene, playing with names like Felix da Housecat, Derrick Carter, Terry
Francis, Asad Rizvi, Brett Johnson, Falko Brocksieper, Geddes, Michelle
Grinser, Haito, Blackstrobe, Shonky, Luke Solomon, and many more.In 2003 he is invited to be part of Electrik-Bass a tech house
electro influenced label where he releases two singles, this means the move to
London where helives nowadays.In 2004 he is nominated
for best incoming dj and best mixed cd by the portuguese magazine Dance
Club.He’s also the front man of the the portuguese colective Greenwich
Connection, with the aim of music culture exchange between the world and
Portugal organizing several thematic events with portuguese and foreign
artists.The seed was thrown, the plant has grown and here he is an artist
