SHAWNEE CAVE
Located in Southern Illinois, this bluff shelter houses large-scale music and art events nearby a bevy of nature trails for hiking. Shawnee Cave is Illinois' largest bluff shelter features strange rock formations and a roaring waterfall. The mineral potassium nitrate, also known as saltpeter, was used in the manufacture of explosives.
The park provides picnic tables, nature trails, never hurts to bring along your chair and your camping equipment, you might want to stay a couple of days. Leisure travelers enjoy this family-oriented attraction, which is also used for reunions and wedding receptions.
