Coming from a very musical family encouraged her to pursue her music career. She started her first singing group at the age of thirteen upon realizing that this was something she could take to another level. While choosing her passion; singing, dancing and song writing over normal teenage activities, Samiyyah has developed the work ethic, mentality, and swagger that it takes to move forward in the entertainment industry. At age 17, she decided to concentrate on her solo efforts and was able to create a slight buzz within industry circles by opening for such acts as IMX, Chico Debarge, The Transitions, Ideal, 7 mile, 112, Jaheim, The Temptations and more. She also wrote and sang backgrounds for several songs on Divine Mill/Aristas Koffee Brown project. After doing multiple recordings with Fubu Records/ Universal, she generated enough buzz to get the attention of Capitol Records. At age twenty she signed with Barak/Capitol/ Priority records and sang multiple recordings for Slum Village including the remix to the hit single Tainted Love.
Currently writing on several projects with top producer Jazze Pha, Samiyyah is establishing herself as one of the industrys hottest up and coming writers. She is also very familiar with performing all across the country and overseas with majors acts, which makes her more than ready for the rigors of the music industry. With a performance resume that consists of performing with Ludacris, John Legend, Fat Joe, Nelly, Slum Village and more, her stage show has blossomed into an energetic masterpiece captivating viewers with her amazing presence, confidence and swagger. While close to finishing her album Reality Check, complete with guest appearances from Dwele, Lathun Grady, Slum Village and LJ from Profyle, Samiyyah has received rave reviews from all her industry peers, her single How Many Times is creating quite a buzz in the streets and at radio.
Samiyyah is also in the process of working on a major movie as well as Soundtrack of the movie Naomi Sitting Hawks She feels its her time to show the world what God has blessed her with. Right now unsigned, Samiyyah and her grammy winning drive has managed to redefine herself into a R&B Hip Hop Pop Artist of tomorrow. Her sexy image, entrancing tone, acrobatic riffs, and melodic phrasing make being in the studio with Samiyyah like a kid in a candy story. Samiyyah truly is a superstar in every right, and everyone that meets her will attest, whether listening to her CD, watching her perform, or just kicking with her in the streets. With the right combination of marketing and promotion Samiyyah WILL win the hearts over an audience in dyer need of something new, different and hot.
