You have to know that although music was a big part of Andre's upbringing, he had no intention of pursuing music as a career, but after winning his local school discos dance competition there was no turning back. Dancing in various clubs for many years after, he then taught himself to sing by singing to the latest r&b music of the time. He then began singing at various clubs and functions and soon started to establish a name for himself within the industry. He performed many explosive solo shows, with dancers, around Sydney, before deciding, in 1996 to join a boy group, called Kross-Over. They recorded an EP (unreleased), supported a few international artists and went through many line up changes, until Andre then decided it was time for him to try something different.
That was when he decided to join a band called Ritch and the Famous. This band comprised of some of the most highly respected musicians in the industry and was to open his eyes up to a whole new outlook towards music and this saw the unleashing of the internal rock monster he had been hiding during his r&b phase. Their music and dynamic show soon became very popular on the Sydney live scene. They recorded an album and an EP, toured extensively and supported many International artists, like Richie Sambora and various Australian artists, before the band parted ways in 1999.Because of his hunger for music and performing, in 2000, Andre then started a covers band, Funkstar, with some friends, while working on his songwriting. By this time his musical tastes were broadening anywhere from Rage Against the Machine to Faith No More to Led Zepplin to the Chilli Peppers and to anything that rocked. This band soon became the most heavily booked covers band in Australia, because of Andre and the bands explosive performances.
Andre finally felt at home within his newly found rock stylings and was now solidifying his name as a force to be reckoned with. During this period Andre performed over a thousand live shows with this band, an enormous accomplishment, for a covers band. He also toured with Australian signed artist Paul Mac, playing many large shows with crowds anywhere up to 50,000 people, various television appearances, with artists like Lionel Richie, while having a thriving business with Funkstar, and being highly sort after for his dynamic mix of rock, hip hop and funk. Andre still yearned to pursue his original music career. He then, in 2003, formed a band called TEN-1, which saw them record an album, flim clip and have two of their songs placed on soundtracks for two major motion pictures as well as interest from major overseas labels. The band separated, in 2005, because of irreconcilable differences. He then went onto writing and producing songs for various Australian and English artists before concentrating on his own solo project.By now, Andre had 2000 live shows, albums , EPs, television appearances, enormous respect within the industry, fantastic image and profile, not to mention a killer voice to his credit. As if by fate, the opportunity of a lifetime came to front newly formed supergroup SUPERNOVA through the reality TV show ROCKSTAR. After extensive auditions in L.A., Andre quickly became one of the favourites to win the competition but disaster struck when his visa to work in the US was declined! An appeal was lodged by the show's executives and lawyers but not cleared by homeland security in time for commencement of the show. Not even a personal reference from Tommy Lee was able to help.
Despite this setback Andre has made a strong impression in the US and has gained some powerful connections. He has now returned to Australia to commence the recording of a long awaited album and to show the world that ANDRE KAMAN is ready to be, the ultimate ROCKSTAR!
