I'm from sunny Staffordshire originally, but have lived in Manchester for nearly 8 years (on and off) since starting a degree in Popular Music and Recording.
I am currently working towards a PhD in the field of Popular Music, researching the UK psy-trance scene...and yes I do get to go partying in the name of 'research' ;-) I make a living from teaching music in further and higher education.
I've played keyboards since the age of 9, but only really got into it after ditching the London College grade exams that I was doing in favour of learning Deep Purple songs (thanks Rob...and Jon Lord!). I currently play in an band performing Arabic/North African music, to which I contribute all manner of synth-craziness. I am also working on a progressive rock project with a couple of people, under the name Flaming Rose. My musical background is in classic rock, indie and metal but in the last three years I have discovered electronic dance music which is now my main interest. I recently played my first DJ set which went pretty well! I don't get much time for writing these days, but I'll upload a few tracks that are 'in progress' when I get chance .
