Have you heard of rap’s “Best Kept Secret?†If not, look no further, because he has emerged. Lucky Seven, also known as the Champion Charlie Brown, is a new hip-hop artist who is looking to bring revolution to the rap industry. For this 22 year old, Buffalo, New York native (with a more than unusual love for sneakers), hip-hop music is a form of “release.†With a pro-black mind state and a love for music, LS claims that he is able to express his opinions on political, racial, and social issues, while at the same time entertain the public. While LS stresses a message in the majority of his songs, he says “a main part of hip-hop is the factor to make people dance,†so naturally he aims to make you “rock!†In 2006, Lucky Seven released an album mixtape titled; “The Best Kept Secret†which he claims was his introduction to the world where people would be able to understand his versatility.Lucky Seven is currently a Political Science major attending Howard University. While he says “education is very important,†music is his number one love and LS takes it very serious. In 2004, LS started Howhood University Records, an independent record label, with co-founders, Matt Cody and Devon “Squizzy†Miller. Together these students had a vision to make music for those with a soul for classic hip-hop music. Howhood University consists of producers, other artists and the business team that keeps projects in motion.Lucky believes that given the chance to appear in front of the world would be the only chance he would need to make a great impression. With hip-hop legend like Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, 2pac, Snoop Dogg, and 50 cent, proving that their music can live on as classic hip-hop, does LS have what it takes to stand toe-to-toe with the best? LS says “In 10 years from now if you don’t hear about LS on the top, you gonna hear about me climbing there!†He sees a realistic approach to the game where he understands success comes with time.
