Biography
Based in Los Angeles, Jonathan Guillen writes for concert, film, and theatre, embracing the collaboration of other artists in varying disciplines. Jonathan's compositional style ranges from electronic, experimental, rock, and jazz, to modern, classical, and pop. Compositions include music for orchestra, string ensemble, woodwind ensemble, voice, guitar, piano, various electro-acoustic ensembles, jazz combo, and concert band. Additionally, he has created music and sound design for short films, podcasts, websites, radio plays, and theatrical stage productions. Jonathan also works as an audio engineer, working in recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.
Jonathan received a Master of Arts in Music from the California State University of Los Angeles where he studied composition under John Kennedy and James Newton. He also received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the California State Polytechnic University of Pomona where he studied with Dave Kopplin and Peter Yates.

"Technology has always determined how and what we experience. I embrace new developments and strive to incorporate interesting and useful methods into my process. As a composer, I believe music is sound. As an audio engineer, I believe sound is music. As an artist, I continue to stretch my boundaries in order to grow. And as a human, I look to the future as I remember our past."
