The history of Y3K is a bit bizarre. Everything began in the last years of the old millennium, when in a costume party L. Shihan and S. Scimoth decided to create a Black Metal band.
L. Shihan was already experienced as a keyboard player in groups such as Eternal Dream. This band disappeared because some of the components decided to leave black metal in order to play Rap music!!! He also created a project on his own. It was a record of medieval music which became well-known in his city underground scene: Belli Gito.
S. Scimoth, in turn, has always been a great thinker. Scathing and politically incorrect, he is a key part in y3k, forming a magnificent evil tandem.
In March 2001, under the influence of a terrible hangover, they composed their first single The Four Arms of Astaroth and recorded it at home with a very bad sound. They sent that version to a local music contest just as a joke, not even thinking that their demo could be selected. But it happened, and they were chosen to play live in a local television programme. Obviously, as they didn't have a consolidated formation, they couldn't go.
After that little success the project Y3k stopped for some years, until April 2005, when the two founders of the band talked to Sando, the owner of Immortal Productions. That was y3k's rebirth. They recorded their single The Four Arms of Astaroth in a professional studio and had a project for making the video too. Some musicians were added to the original formation for the recording: Sacha, the best guitarist of extreme music in the national scene and The Angel, one of the most virtuoso bass guitarists in Spain .
Although in the home-made version the keyboard parts were already done, Y3k was so lucky that the best dark orchestra composer in the country joined them: Radamantys, the leader of the internationally famous power metal band Opera Magna. The last one to join the group was the drummer: The Lord of the Sea, the owner of Immortal Studios and producer of Y3k.
At the beginning it was going to be just the recording of one single, and now it has become a consolidated band which during 2006 has composed its own repertoire and pretends to show the whole world what they are able to do.
Their first release is about to come out. Keep on alert.
Glory to Spanish Yakuza Black Metal!!!
