About Me
The Most Anyone Has Ever Written About This Band
In a time when Blink-182's Enema of the State was ruling the charts and That 70's Show was still funny, three young pop-punkers had a vision: to create a band like no other. The young visionaries went by the names of Christian, Brian and Justin. There was only one problem: No band, no fans, no nothing. Well, that's actually three problems but that really wasn't the point; the point was that action was needed, and they set off to make it happen. And make it happen those young visionaries did - crafting songs that fused every bit parts of originality, power, and musical complexity. Unfortunatley, by everyone else's standards, the songs were considered nothing more than elementary power chord progressions repeated over and over for three minutes long.
The recordings of this mess, The Pleasuring Crustaceans E.P.[2002] was largely considered a failure - so much so that after their first real show at the Attic Club, the band broke up. A young nubile guitarist who had been filling in for Christian's inability to play guitar coherently, Kent Wood, vowed never to play with them again. The band was shattered; as they all sulked back to their respective musical endeavors, thoughts of the Lobster Ticklers still surged through Christian's veins. He swore that the Ticklers would be back and better than ever. However, it would not be until almost one year later than they would ever grace the stage again.
Fast forward to the fall of 2004. The spirit of the Lobster Ticklers is still alive, and the three young visionaries psyched themselves up enough to play again, and decided the platform for their dramatic return would be the event "ATTAPALOOZA" at the Attic Club. However, instead of practicing, the band instead figured they already knew the songs well enough to play a show. This would become a trend in the band's history, as like you would expect, most considered the show a disaster. But not the Ticklers. No, this was a testament to the bands power. They took control of the stage, playing their 10 second-long barn-burner "Short, Fast, Intense" over and over. They refused to leave the stage until the crowd applauded as loud as possible. The owner of the club intervened, and the LT's have not played their since. They broke up later that month.
Fast forward to 2005. One of the original visionaries, Justin, has disavowed the band left what was thought by most to be a dead band. But like so many times before it and the many that will undoubtedly happen again, they decided to rise again. Christian and Brian led the pack this time, with Justin's brother Jake and a young long-hair by the name of Sean in tow, giving the band a sloppy but dedicated musical muscle. A few weeks before deciding to record, fate intervened when a real musician joined their motley crew - Brian Baker. With his razor-sharp guitar riffs adding to the mayhem, they set out to record another EP, lovingly titled Vs.
The band was on a roll - an EP and a solid line-up. They decided to test the waters and they signed up for the biggest event they could think of: Fairmont Highschool's Battle of the Bands. Needless to say, they were the talk of the town and surrounding areas. The eve of the show, the band revved their engines and looked straight ahead. However, they were heading straight towards a proverbial brick wall. And when they hit, it hurt worse than before. After the semi-successful show [they placed 6th of 6 bands in the contest], Christian and the Brians pink-slipped the other Ticklers and tried new musical avenues. None of these avenues worked, and they soon faded into obscurity again.
Fast forward to 2006 - Something is stirring. The three original visionaries, Justin, Brian and Christian have been reported to have started working again. Again joined by creative mastermind Brian Baker, they have decided to again rise the Lobster Ticklers from the dead and bring the onslaught to the awaiting masses once again. However, this time, there will be a touch of class; many years wiser and a few eons older, the young visionaries vision may finally become a reality. So sit back and enjoy this reality - it might not last forever.
