About me: Since i was a child I have always been pulled towards music. When I was young I enjoyed music with thick guitar riffs and heavy synth lines. As I grew into a teenager, I found myself gravitating towards BASS. The harder it hit the more i loved it. I began going out to teen dance clubs when I was 17 and that was it, I was hooked. To hear my favorite music on such a powerful sound system was awe inspiring for me. When I moved to Tallahassee to go to school, I found that the clubs were much the same, but the music was very different. I had never heard music that moved me like that. I had truly found a home. I spent many of my nights going out to the local clubs and dancing my ass off. Soon the local clubs were not enough and some of my friends and I started to travel. Frequenting clubs like Simon's, Firestone, the Edge, OZ, Florida Theater and any festival I could squeeze in. I enjoyed Dancing so much, that some friends of mine decided that I needed to become a DJ and bought me some records for my birthday in 1995. At first it was all about just trying to collect my favorite tunes from the magical time I shared in Florida. Eventually my roommate and I went in on our first wheels of steel. Once I began mixing, I found myself fascinated by the possibilities when behind the decks. I never felt so alive than when I was in the mix. I would spend twelve hours on some days just going through my records, A sides, B sides and back again. . . I could not get enough.
Eventually I started Playing out under the name DJ Purple Haze. Doing what I loved so much in front of people was an incredible feeling. It was then that I knew I would do this for life in one way or another. Here I could bore you with stories of my past and drop some names I have played with to make myself sound cool, but I am not going to. That was then, this is now.
So enough about my past. Who am I today. . . I am now living in my hometown of Atlanta, GA. These days I mix because it is in my blood. I love music and I love to mix. When I find two tracks that melt together, it still makes my soul smile. I love the way music makes me feel, how it can bring peace to a sometimes chaotic existence. My goals are different now than they once were, today I mix for me with no glorified pretenses looming over my head. I find music that touches me and makes me want to move. I play tunes in almost every genre of edm. I simply cannot get enough. Feel free to listen to the mixes i put up, if they touch you then crank it and enjoy. If it does not. . . then turn it off.
