Wizard Oz

About Me

Wizard Oz, is working on some solo stuff outside Snake Eyes, some is heavy and some is mellow acoustic stuff. All these songs were recorded at Wizards Castle Uk. Oz sings plays bass keyboards and drums, his love for his Art is now taking him into other styles of music, acoustic, folk, Goth Metal, so expect a whole new batch of songs soon. His prized Ovation acoustic guitar takes him to another level and is so easy to write on. The influences are wide and varied from all types of music. Hes working on some acoustic songs with Oz singing, and a Metal cd which will be intrumental.Oz began his musical Journey at the age of 10 on an acoustic guitar. Then began playing electric soon there after. When only twelve years old, he formed his first band "Blue Mist", a three piece project featuring himself on lead guitar. The following year he formed "Hellbent", a four piece with himself on lead guitar. At age eighteen 'Wizard' Oz co- formed "Justin Eyeball", the Rush tribute band which toured western Canada and was top in demand to play everywhere in Vancouver at that time. A few years later he moved back to his native Liverpool England and formed "Crowded", a four piece band, playing lead guitar, singing and playing keyboards whilst touring England. In the late 90s Wizard Oz had a vison of what he wanted to create this was Snake Eyes. On Dec 5 the bed tracks were laid for 'The Journey Begins...' . Recording was in the spring of 1999 and it was mixed soon after. The CD was shipped to Quebec for production in July 1999 and August 6 marked the release of Snake Eyes' debut CD 'The Journey Begins..' in select stores in Canada and Dublin Ireland. The Journey Goes Live...... the band played all over Vancouver at all the night clubs and also live on the Vtv breakfeast show. Oz reformed Snake Eyes to the Uk 5 years ago and has had good succes doing so, with having video played on Scuzz tv and many live shows. Snake Eyes has also recorded a new cd at the moment which Oz does most of the writing SNAKE EYES SOUL STEALER which Oz produced. Now with his own recording studio set up at home Oz can now concentrate on getting his acoustic cd finished. The Wizard Oz first solo album is in the final mastering stages.Oz has had the opportunity to jam with a wealth of talented British and Canadian musicians over the years..........and a fellow Canadian. Pete Friesen ( Alice Cooper, The Almighty and Bruce Dickinson).Pete plays with two of the UK bands that Oz regularly guests with The Shakers and Metalworks , both of which also boast the impressive talents of Les Binks (ex- Judas Priest) Oz has also played with Robin Eaglestone( Cradle Of Flith), Tony Ritchie, Lionel Hicks( Balance Of Power). Oz has also played with The Trailer Park boys live onstage 2 different times Dec 19 2008 and Jan 16 2009, n Vancouver Canada, featuring Bubbles playing Liquor and Whores and Oz soloing. Being a big fan of their show, Oz has felt honoured to be able to jam with Bubbles as he has played with some huge names In the music industry.Respecting all who he plays with with Oz loves to jam guitar riffs until the neck falls off.

Band Members: There is only one band member on the project and that is me, Oz
Influences: I have too many influences to name then all. I love classical sounds when it comes to guitar, I love Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, and especially the master himself... Ace Frehley. I appreciate the great music producers like Jim Steinman who is famed as working with Meatloaf. My metal roots run deep with love of the old school British Heavy Metal like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
Sounds Like: I like to think my music doesn't sound like any other. When you hear my solo work, I want you to come away thinking, "Wow! That is true Oz music and he has a style all his own."
