Trenton Sicola

About Me

Trenton Sicola was born and raised in Chicago. The eclectic mix of blues, soul, funk, disco, rock, and jazz helped mold the music inside the small boy. At age ten Trenton took up the Drums, following the lead from his older brother, Chuck, who has taken up the guitar three years earlier. The two would spend their afternoons after school jamming to their favorite songs and learning how to command the stage. At age seventeen Trenton took up the piano, realizing that the following year he would be off to college studying music without the music theory knowlege or an instrument to learn and play it on. In college, at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Trenton performed in bands like "Boys of Blue Hill", "Caucsian Chalk Circle" and "Ruebarb". The latter allowing him to play with the likes of "Snuzz", "Bicycle Face", and "Geezer Lake" to name a few, usually playing at the famed Miracle House of Rock, Somewhere Else Tavern or 925 Union Street. After four years at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Music, with a concentration in percussion, Trenton joined the Charlotte, NC based jam-band "Other People". Trenton spent four years traveling the country and honeing his playing and songwriting skills. He released two albums with "Other People", "Whirled Vision" 1992 and "Lost Sun" 1994. During that time he shared the stage and/or bill with acts like Widespread Panic, Aquarium Rescue Unit, moe., White Buffalo, The Grapes, Gibb Droll, Dave Matthews Band, Merl Saunders, Doc Watson, and The David Grisman Quintet to name a few. In 1996 Trenton moved to Atlanta and began a career backing up the likes of singer-songwriters like Alice Muson(who he played with in "Boys of Blue Hill") and Brian Webb. On the side Trenton continued to persue the dream of putting together another jam-band, but it was not to be, so finally in 2004 he decided to do what he swore he never wanted to do. Go solo. So in 2006 Trenton recorded his first solo album of all original material which he plays all the instruments, except guitar, played by Rex Jones(Top Friends List). The album features the vocal talents of Tara Farmer(Top Friends List) and was produced by Great Legacy(Top Friends List). Lately Trenton has played with "Space Yeti" and "Stop Drop and Roll". Although he has ventured out on a solo career he is still a musician for hire and is still one of the best drummers in the southeast!
