"The Conquistadors" are a trio of musicians based currently in the West Coast Finland's town of Vaasa. While the origins of the band members remain clouded (trust me, 'tis so for a reason) it is known that Latin American blood runs through two thirds of the band. It is a series of odd coincidences that brought the three together so it is fitting that their music also has its fair share of originality and surely an element of surprise which modern music nowadays too often lacks.
"The Conquistadors" make music in quite a different way than most of their modern contemporaries, you could almost say that they have their own dogma rule. Their debut album "Mil Mascaras" has been recorded and written one song a day, no material has been done outside the studio, or before or after the day the song is recorded. This makes their music move in unorthodox ways since the ideas and melodies appear and are cemented very fast, in a fashion not so far from improvising. Also while they use heavily electronic instruments, the sound they create is very human which might be because the songs aren't recorded to pre-programmed sequences but played live in the studio.
I hear some of you wondering about the masks. Well, the less said about them the better, let's just say that they're there for a specific reason. But hey, it's all about the music, ainnit?
"The Conquistadors"' radio single "Daydreamer" is probably on the air as we speak and their debut album "Mil Mascaras" is out now on Elements Music / Kinkt Records (distributed in Finland by Playground Music).
