BlueHair

About Me

BlueHair is a WRITING TEAM that consists of Gail Chasin and Merrily Weeber (not shown - Gail is the original BlueHair with the obvious gray hair!) and is her concept. While she and Merrily also perform together from time to time, these recordings currently have only Gail doing the singing....and as time goes on and Gail and Merrily record more together, Merrily will also be featured on this site! CARRY ON, IT'S THERE and GATHER THE WOMEN were co-written, while the others are Gail's.These two songwriters, singers and musicians (rhythm guitar players) who write great tunes that range from deeply profound and poignant to funny and charming. No matter what they sing, they've got some downright tasty vocals. (They'll get some tunes downloaded as soon as they figure out how to download it!)The styles range from blues and country to jazz and pop and just about everything in between except opera. That's because they're writers as well as vocal interpreters of song - and exceptional at it they are, too! They are both working constantly, either separately or together, gigging in clubs, doing projects for hire, etc., singing both standards and original tunes.Gail has worked from California to Tennessee, from New York to Alaska and from Greece to Germany. She is classy, yet earthy and has a way of making dinner houses and concert venues feel like the living room. She stamps her own distinctive musical signature on everything she sings and writes. Making a butter-smooth transition from power vocalist to the sultriest of torch singers and lyrically coasting from introspective to downright gritty, this animated performer's voice will have your ears standing at attention! Gail was voted ‘Favorite Singer in the Orange County’s “Best Of” Series in 1996. What Do People Say? "One of those performers who should be a household name but isn't. A special singer with a fan base that borders on a cult following." Alan Marciocchi, Entertainer Magazine, Laughlin, Nevada "One of the most mesmerizing and soulful performers who's worked in Music City." Robert Oermann, Music/TV Journalist, Nashville, Tennessee "When Gail Chasin sings, E. F. Hutton Listens!" Jon Pepper, Blues Critic, Los Angeles, California "Chasin is a poignant lyricist as well as a great singer." For more info on Gail Chasin, please visit her website at www.GailChasin.comMerrily is a little more laid back and doesn't have a site yet, but in time they will do their best to make this site rock! They'll be adding some tunes soon, too!Merrily sings with the warmth and spaciousness of her native San Antonio, Texas. Her roots extend deep into the mother lode of American song. When she sings, formal categories are blown away like so much tumbleweed. Blues, folk, jazz, country, rock--it's all Merrily-music. And the music has carried her on an extraordinary journey. She has toured as an opening act with Willie Nelson and also opened for both Waylon Jennings and John Sebastian. She sang on an album by Jerry Jeff Walker's group, The Lost Gonzo Band. She toured extensively in Japan. And in France, she performed for an international audience at the Midem Music Festival and recorded an album with her band, Joker Moon. Merrily’s talents have also been discovered by television. She's been the featured vocalist for various songs in the hit sitcoms “Third Rock from the Sun” and “That Seventies Show” and sang the opening theme song for Candace Bergen's talk show on Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Network.Currently, Merrily is developing a reputation as a world-class songwriter. She has co-written with Jack Tempchin, who penned the Eagles' hit “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” She also writes extensively with pianist-composer extraordinaire John Barnard. Eleven of heir compositions can be heard on Merrily’s CD, Voodoo Love, which Barnard produced. In addition, her song “Hard To Say,” written with Dan Marcus, appears on Amy Farris’s critically acclaimed debut album “Anyway”, produced by Grammy winner and roots music legend Dave Alvin. But live performance remains the heart and soul of Merrily's art - her striking originals interspersed with selections from the great American songbook. Each night she proves that music and magic can indeed be one and the same. Merrily is also an incredible chef and cook who's worked with Wolfgang Puck's staff. Her food tastes of love ... and she makes a mean cookie. 8-) www.myspace.com/merrilywThese two talents come with a long history of performing and writing music with many accolades in the biz, but their philosophy is 'what are you doing NOW?' So they keep moving forward with the next project. After all, it IS the journey and if the journey ain't fun, the heck with it! Life is short but it's wide!Gail and Merrily are BlueHair, which isn’t about a specific or particular nation – it’s about representing women and men in an aging generation that exists around the globe and the uptapped wisdom that the aging hippies and yuppies (depending on if you were liberal and conservative) and people of the 60's, who are now older but still chronically hip. (Actually 65% of our population is over 55 years old - baby boomers and the next older generation.) It’s about standing for and standing up for laughter, freedom and peace for every single human being on this planet. Every one in every part of the world, no matter the nationality has at least one thing in common: we age and our hair turns gray. Whether you dye it or let the silver fly, it is up to us to bring out into the open and speak the truth and commonality of all peoples everywhere for truth, freedom and mutual alignment with the universe based in a foundation of love and mutual respect. It’s our job to secure the future of all (people and animals) and to thrive in togetherness. It’s our job to bring laughter and to quell the streak of fear, hatred and anger that has been embedded in all people everywhere. Let us join together and sing the pain out until we heal. No more war and no more hunger. Abundance for all! It’s time in our wisdom to stand up and say ENOUGH! Let’s laugh and be in joy and good health and have fun! The entire world deserves this! Being a BlueHair hopefully means that we’ve gained enough wisdom to see that WE’RE the ones with the power! That being said, BlueHair IS great music. BLUEHAIR FOREVER!Thanks for having patience! Keep checkin back for updates while they learn how to maneuver around myspace and create more on this site.....stay tuned.PEACE ON YOU!

Sounds Like: Gail has her own distinct style but DEPENDING ON WHAT TYPE OF SONGS SHE'S SINGING, has the flavorings of Mahalia Jackson, Bonnie Raitt, Phoebe Snow, Linda Rondstadt and Joni Mitchell yet still has her own distinct sound that is unmistakeably Gail Chasin, especially when performing original songs. She did jingle, demo and voice over work in Nashville between road gigs opening shows or singing backup for tons of country/rock/blues artists in the 80's. You can see on her other website www.gailchasin.comMerrily leans toward country and Americana flavoring but can still write and sing a mean jazz tune. Uniquely her own style. she has also done voice over work and TV commercials and has opened for Willie Nelson and other greats. Both women are just musically versatile! We're working on getting the tunes up on the site....thanks for hangin in there - sorry for the delay - life is busy! 8-)
