The Post Modern

About Me

The Post Modern has sounded like many things in it's evolution of music. It started as a back up band for a singer/songwriter named Daven Tillinghast. They got together and practiced up some of his songs for a local battle of the bands. At this point most of them were in jazz band at WWU together and they called themselves Daven and the Pimp Daddies. Original members were Daven, Cameron Arneson(bass), Justin Neff(sax), Peter Jordan(trumpet) and Phil Gardner(drums). That went well, so they decided to become a band and started calling themselves the Mysterious Rubberband, and sometimes Skinnypants.
They played jazz and funky horn dance music, and the people danced. After a while they started wanting to play more rock oriented music. So Pete stopped playing so much trumpet and wielded the guitar along side Daven. This is when they started calling themselves the Naked Music Organization. Their first album was still 2/3 horn music and the music was written and sung by three different people: Daven(vox/guitar), Cameron(vox/bass) and Pete(vox/guitar/trumpet).
It all sounded good(check out "Stop When the Cops Knock"), the quality of recording they got from Bayside Recording Studios was infallible. The boys just wanted more out of their sound. Soon after this Justin and Phil decided they had to go their own ways, so Justin became an accountant in Seattle and Phil joined a band more in tune with his aspirations in his native Canada. This is when they became the Post Modern(LLC). They brought Matt in on drums and went on tour through the midwest. At this point their music had made the move completely from jazz-to funky-to rock and roll.
Daven and Matt went their seperate ways in late 2006 and left Cam and Pete, who've been making music together for over a decade in one form or another. Check out Daven's new band at www.myspace.com/audiosattva.
After about 8 months of playing around with various drummers Pete and Cam have decided to call it quits with the Post. They are starting a new band that will be known as The Science Fiction heroes or SciFi Heroes. Check them out at www.myspace.com/scifiheroes.
Pete and Cam are also starting a recording studio which will tentatively be named Science Fiction Studios, they hope to establish themselves for a few years and then form a label.
It's been a wild ride and we hope you have all enjoyed the music of the Post Modern/The Naked Music Organization.
