About Me

Layout by CoolChaser Background from flickr user

WILLIE NORWOOD has been involved in singing since early childhood. His father and mother sang in the church choir. He is the father and voice coach of Grammy superstar Brandy and Actor/Artist Ray J. Norwood has always used his voice to teach others to sing and uplift their hearts through his unbridled passion for singing and making great music.

His first commercial album, "Bout it", received a Dove Award nomination. He featured on this album many jazz, contemporary, gospel, R&B and pop greats. Artists Kirk Whalum, Billy Preston (the 5th Beatle), The William Brothers, Brandy, Ray J and his dad, W.T. Norwood, Sr. lent their musical gifts to the album. This album was produced by Grammy Award gospel producers Cedric and Victor Caldwell.

"I Believe" is the second CD presented by Willie Norwood. It is a definitive and eclectic blend of a cappella southern gospel songs that will lift your spirit and soothe your soul.

After putting together Brandy's Never-Say-Never World Tour, Norwood set up the KnockOut Vocal Studio in North Hollywood, CA. Even though he has taught many artists in the business to sing, he is always looking for new people to teach singing. Presently he is the director to the group UCC, a 94-voice youth choir in South Central L.A. and minister of music at the Woodland Hills Church of Christ. He has two artists projects,, Chyra, and Tha Way Out that he is working with now who will make a resounding debut real soon.

"I Believe" and "Bout it" can be purchased online through CDBABY Willie Norwood.

"Singing Tips" from Willie Norwood

Below are 2 tips from my soon to be released singing method "Let Yourself Sing".

Singing Tip 1: The best and least expensive source for the voice is water. When you are getting prepared to sing in studio or at a performance DRINK PLENTY OF WATER! You will know when you have drank enough water when your urine runs clear
Singing Tip 2: Relaxation is the key to great singing. TENSION IS THE ENEMY! Learn to stretch and relax before singing.
