About Me

Lux Aeterna to perform in Piccolo Spoleto 2007!

We will be repeating our concert in honor of child abuse survivors during the reknowned Piccolo Spoleto Festival on Saturday, June 2 at 6pm, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.

Lux Aeterna performs a concert in honor of child abuse survivors. Works include Johannes Brahms' "Wie Lieblich Sind Deine Wohnungen," Samuel Barber's "Sure on this Shining Night," Karen Marrolli's "Rise Up My Love, My Fair One," Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Ca the Yowes," Christansen's "My Song in the Night," and Aaron Copland's "The Promise of Living."

Lux Aeterna was formed several years ago to serve as the chorus for various candlelight vigils in downtown Charleston. The choir has sung at vigils commemorating 9/11 and World AIDS Day. The major project of Lux Aeterna is a candlelight concert in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month (April.) The program features choral music interspersed with readings of poetry written by survivors of all forms of abuse in hopes that those in attendance will be better educated about the effects of abuse and survivors can gain solace through artistic expression. We hope to expand our repertoire and perform in more concert programs in Charleston.

Karen Marrolli is the founding artistic director of Lux Aeterna. She is a graduate of Westminster Choir College, where she received her BM in Music Theory and Composition (1997) and her MM in Choral Conducting and Sacred Music (2000).
