BETTA FISH
Baby, who was found at a dollar store-- living in a few tablespoons of water. In a plastic bag.
1. It's pronounced "bett-uh", not "bay-ta"
2. It is a myth that bettas live in small puddles in the wild. They actually come from rice paddies which, while shallow, span thousands of acres. Yes, bettas can survive in small bowls. You could also survive in a closet.
3. Bettas are tropical fish. When cold, they will clamp their fins, lose their color and become lethargic. Cold water can weaken their immune system. Bettas thrive in 75-80 degree water. They need heaters, like any other tropical fish.
4. The bare minimum tank size for a happy betta is 1 gallon! Bigger is better; the smaller the tank, the more frequently it should be cleaned. A one gallon tank must be cleaned and refilled twice weekly. Dirty water can kill your fish!
5. Research before buying a fish! Bettas are pets, not decorations.
Would you make your dog live his entire life in this?
Then why make your fish live his entire life in this?
end rant.
