The Beginnings:
In early 2007, Sky Harbor began to perfect the combination of the genres Pop and Metal to create a unique genre, “Pop-Metalâ€. The combination of the two genres opens up endless, unique, and untouched possibilities allowing the band to really explore the best of their two favorite genres at the same time.
Musically, Sky Harbor often draws influence from Scandinavian melodic heavy metal bands such as In Flames and Sonic Syndicate, while being inspired vocally by sweet pop rock such as Jimmy Eat World and Paramore. Taking everything from blast beats to dance beats and elegant piano playing over thunderous double bass, combined with heavy guitar and catchy choruses, Sky Harbor has effectively utilized its musical talents and backgrounds to put together a fresh, unique, and catchy sound for today's generation.
Accomplishments:
In the short time the group has been together, Sky Harbor has already accomplished a great deal. They have been featured in several local newspaper articles, filmed a music video for their hit song "Rain Dancer," and have opened for nationally touring artists such as:
TRUSTcompany
The Dreaming
Kill Your Ex
A Thorn for Every Heart
Fight Fair.
They have also played with great Seattle bands such as:
At Night
Forward In Reverse
Radumus
The Formal
Miracle Max.
Not to mention, their unique sound can also be heard over the airwaves of Seattle radio stations, KGRG 89.9FM and KNDD 107.7FM both musically as well as in the studio.
Sky Harbor and its signature sound has already found a home in Seattle (birthplace of many talented musical acts such as Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Acceptance, Daphne Loves Derby, Death Cab For Cutie & Alice In Chains), playing frequently at Studio Seven, a local performance venue. Sky Harbor has developed a bold following and gains more and more attention by the minute. Noted songs including "Party! At the Apocalypse" and "Walking on the Wire" leave fans pumped up and asking with high excitement, "What's next?"
The Future:
Well, the sun is just starting to rise for the up-and-coming group. Sky Harbor is on the brink of releasing it's highly anticipated independent full length debut effort “Finding My Orchestra (release: May 9, 2009)." The band looks forward to playing more shows and working on new material before the year comes to a close. Be on the look out for Sky Harbor and expect great things in the near future!
