Brink Of Extinction
are a 6 piece metal band that hail from the hometown of Yate, Bristol [England] that started around March/April 2005.
Though this has not always been the same line up, as it has had a couple of member changes along the way.
From late 2007 the band had been morphed into its known line up today.
As it has become apparent in song reviews, the band has not been given a defined genre or sub-genre (apart from it being a form of Metal obviously) from friends, fans, peers or even theirselves, they can't quite define the sound.
So far the band have gone with "Progressive-Groove-Metal" to some up the main element.
Though the band do try to include different aspects of styles to throw in to their songs, from sounds of Groove, Prog, Thrash, Nu, Extreme, Black, Death metal etc. with Melodic, Ambient/Atmospheric, unusual effects thrown in.
Also new ways of thinking, whether it's in terms of song structure, weird riff ideas, simplistic to technical ideas, song/lyrical story/philosophies.
2008 Had seen the band play a few shows around areas of the SouthWest, to some welcoming and insane crowds, along side some brilliant bands and making new friends and gaining support along the way.
Back in February and March 2009 the band had finished recording their debut E.P. 'Illusions Found' which they plan to hopefully release in Summer '09, though this is looking less likely due to money problems. Everyone will be updated as they know!
The band still have a list of things to do, from completing individual expenses such as sorting out a P.A., guitar rigs, drums etc. to group expenses such as a banner, lighting/smoke.
Though money seems to be the issue at the moment, so it'll take time to achieve all this.
