Too Funky
George Michael
George Michael
George has to be one of my favourite solo artists ever, alongside David Bowie. I have never seen anybody have such a wide vocal range as he does, and the quality of it astounds me. One of the best things about his music, I think, is he covers areas of life that haven't been touched by other people because it's controversial. But if you listen to him speak about his songs, you know why he's written about war or sex or lust. I admire him for his versatility, and the duets he has done with really famous people. He is one of the best singer/songwriters & his live vocals, from what I've heard, are flawless. Literally. A lot of his songs are so heartfelt and emotional, and he is the first vocalist since Davey Havok came along that can literally make my heart ache with his voice and his lyrics. That, to me, is amazing and a feeling which I never thought I'd find again. I admire him for his boldness and how he keeps on going no matter what. It so weird how, after all the media attention and his behaviour, some people still can't see past that and like him for his music, because its some of the best and famous music ever created. In a way I'm glad it has happened because he dealt with the media attacks and abuse about his sexuality so well and turned it into a positive thing, and seeing that makes me admire him even more. He seems to me like a sincere, honest person and I don't think you could ask for better qualities. As a person as well as a musician, I have a lot of respect for him and I thank him for everything he's made me realise- as well as helping me to start making music again.
Adam Ant
I've recently been reading Adam Ants autobiography, and it's amazing. He's so honest and open about everything- every little aspect of his life is in so much detail. Reading it has made me realise and confirm some things in my own life. Adam was, and still is a beautiful, beautiful man. He writes amazing songs, and in the 1970s he was part of the punk scene and it reflects in his music. I love that because it reminds me of the music I started to listen to, before I spread out into different genres. His fashion sence and individuality in the 80s was incredable and totally unique. His music is inspiring and different with every album. The fact that he's still doing stuff now, even though his peak was obviously in the 1980s is really great. I've been enjoying his autobiography so much!
I haven't abandoned AFI, but their dedication is too long for me to post here. So it's in a blog which you can visit
here . They changed my life completely, and anybody that knows me will know just how much I love them. But you can read about it.
His smile.
Nobody as of yet has been able to make me melt with their smile quite like this man can.

For the days when all I did was draw and read Harry Potter.
"I will only truly have left this school when none here are loyal to me... Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it."
-Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
I can't possibly expect
anyone to understand this, but I have a strong connection with Kaiser Chiefs
first album Employment with the Harry Potter books, in particular the Half
Blood Prince. I can pin point certain songs off that album with certain events
in the books. When that sixth book was published in 2005, I read it and at some
point I listened to Employment while reading. The song Caroline, Yes in
particular reminds me of Dumbledore’s death. I still cry now at that song
because I have such a strong memory of reading about his death and the song
just fits with that event, such a sombre song. Nobody
really understands why I associate Kaiser Chiefs with Harry Potter, it’s just
something that developed in 2005 and has stayed with me since. I love having a
soundtrack to Harry Potter. The actual soundtracks to the films aren’t significant
to me at all.
I think, looking at the album as a whole it really
shows how dark and scary the wizarding world is. Especially at the time, HBP
was the scariest and the most daunting book because we learn about Horcruxes
which is truly terrifying (to me anyway). Also Dumbledore, the greatest wizard
in the world, is killed and it seems as if everyone has lost hope. Harry has more
responsibilities leading into the seventh book, and the nature of that book reflects
in Employment. The seventh book, at the time, hadn’t been released.
There was a very ominous feeling left inside me, and Kaiser Chiefs music fitted
perfectly and still does…
These are the people who have changed and/or saved my life; those who have helped me and those who have changed my outlook on life. I will never forget them and never underestimate what they have done for me.
