About Me

Being raised on a healthy injection of all manner of rock music, it wasn't until my late teens/early 20's that the notion of Dance music hit me, although a pure love of Pink Floyd and what they did with sounds helped in my transition into the EDM scene. Taking in the early 90's rave culture and most things with a beat i kept the music close to me at all times, listening in and wanting more from the music i listened to, casting aside pre mixed commercial Cd's as ' not always done right ' in my own eyes. 6 years ago the penny dropped, meetings with friends in a local record shop and buying vinyl to play on an old Panasonic turntable, the point of Djing became clear to me, it's what i was always missing. Being able to create your own sounds and mixing to what i wanted to hear, not was put to me for £12.99 from woolies. I began DJing on 2 belt drive Numarks ( 1650's i think ) and a Numark 1000MkII mixer and to put it finely, i guess i was normal in my ability to grasp the basics of beatmatching, song structure etc. Forward to now...the present time. I'm using a Denon set up, 2 DN-S3500's and a DN-X1500 mixer, although I'm not entirely happy with the mixer and I'm looking to head into the world of Allen & Heath on that front, although I've used alot of different gear, Pioneer Mixers ( 600 & 3000 ) Numark ( turntables TT200, TT1650, Mixer 1002MKII 3000 as well ) Stanton ( CD S450 x 2 ) Behringer mixers ( DJM700 ) Technics 1210's ofc ;) and a DAC2 controller. Nowadays I've moved away from vinyl all together, although i wish i could stay with it, but with the closure of my local record shop and the next one over 2 hours away, it's not viable, which to me is a sad day, as fond memories of leafing through tunes in the shop, chatting with the guy who owned it about stuff etc, man i miss them times. The future? well off to college hopefully in September 08 to further my knowledge and make a career out of Music, whether Engineer or Producer I'm not sure yet, but after being a builder for nearly 17 years, it's time to invest in what i want and not what i have to do to pay the bills :D I'm touching the border of Digital Djing, but dipping my toe quite delicately at the moment, one plan with purchasing a A&H was the addition of the Xone1 and 2 to help me in that area, a name i can trust and one which I'm eagerly looking forward to owning after Djing for 6 years. On the side line i have a Online radio station which i co manage and 4 shows a week on there including the much popular ' Producers Show ' which helps give budding producers the airplay they need for their tracks. The future looks sweet.....the future......
