Love and Play is Where Greatness Originates

About Me

Founded in 2002, Uncle Freddy’s Gallery is the creation of Tom Torluemke and Linda Dorman. Named in honor of Torluemke’s deaf and mute Uncle Freddy who lived with Tom and his family. During Tom’s childhood, Tom and Uncle Freddy would spend many of their days together and in order to communicate, they would draw pictures to each other describing what each wanted to do that day. This form of visual communication is what Tom attributes to his lifelong passion and calling.

Gallery Mission
Uncle Freddy’s Gallery reveals cutting-edge contemporary art. We support the notion that the work of an artist is truly an invention, a creation of a universal language of form, composition, design and technique developed to communicate expressively to the senses of humanity.

Music:

In all its forms.

Movies:

We watch many movies, mainly contemporary. Tom loves those gueling emotional dramas and Linda likes comedy, although recent comedies are pretty bad. We both love triumph movies.

Television:

Linda is a TV Fanatic. If it was on between 1976 and today, she probably saw it, (twice).

Books:

We have an art library of over 1,500 monographs and art history books. It keeps growing, we are up to about 1600 now.

Heroes:

Anyone who works for what they have and doesn't take it for granted.

Hello Friends. I recently attended a photojournalism reunion celebrating the 30th anniversary of John H. White teaching at Columbia College. He has not only been a mentor and friend to me, but to thousands of photographers over the years. This video is of John expressing his PJ Love to many of his dedicated students that attended.
