Songs sung and performed by FELEPINAS have been around for over a decade, but due to unfortunate circumstances, it is only now that timing has given the chance to share it...The story of the band was not a smooth sailing one. The band and its members have suffered disappointments, struggles, and rejection. And perhaps these feelings of pain have given them the edge to sing about it.Aldwyn Gamboa (guitarist/ lead singer) has been sharing his songs since the early 90s among his circle of friends in Alabang. Nevertheless, as the son of professionals, he decided to put music aside and pursue his dream in opening up a business. Although the business was successful and promising for some time, some deals went sticky and eventually the business crumbled to pieces. It was then that Aldwyn decided to pick up his feet, and his guitar and go back to his first love, music.Excited, Aldwyn called old friends and found Douggy (bassist) who was just as frustrated about his big break.And it was fate that brought them their third member, Sven Stefanowitz (drums) who was after hearing Aldwyn's songs couldn't help but say yes to the offer. Sven fell instantly in love with the songs as he could relate to the angst in his own life.And so Felepinas was born. The three man band with the help of their first manager, tita Chit Ramos was able to make some noise in the industry through several TV guesting, gigs, events and concerts. They strived to be heard by the masses as well as the big record labels. Felepinas was hopeful for that big break.That hope was transformed to great unhappiness when two record labels promised the band contracts and success but eventually backed out. This left the band badly bruised.Felepinas, the band named after the motherland refused to give up and die without a good fight.Fast forward to the early months of 2007 when the band bumped into an old friend, Will Carlos, who too was hungry for a break. Will and the band had one ambition in mind: to prove all those who disappointed them wrong. Will sacrificed his car to create an independent record label "Big Boss Records" to produce the first Felepinas album.The succeeding weeks and months were followed by meticulous planning and recording of the album and the boys put all their strength and efforts to perfect the sound.The Felepinas album although rough, had great potential. Sadly, because funding fell short, the band was unable to promote and expose their album to the fullest.Perhaps there was still something missing for their masterpiece to make it. Why was it that these boys were still not given a break despite all their efforts, discipline, talents and good looks?In comes Rex Valencia, a prodigy of the early 90s to give the band new hope. Rex, a talent in his own right, shows the band what he is made of and his fingers proved to make other talents out there to bow to his feet.Now Felepinas is better and louder than ever before. Their songs punch to the hearts of the masses, relating to the struggles of many.Now that they are finally complete, the band refuse to be stepped on and pushed around. They are currently waiting for the right timing to unleash many of their even greater songs, and to shock many of their critics and enemies. What fuels Felepinas to not lose hope? That smell of success.
