This page may look a little different to the last time you read it, I have taken over this page as my own, due to me deciding to go solo with my music ambitions. I have realised now that being in a band makes it alot harder to write music, too many songs get thrown away for not being "our sound". I like to write a song for the sake of the song, not because it tells you where my ego is at that point. I believe going solo will expand my creativity with no limits on style (good or bad). The only person I have to rely on now is myself, so I can't blame anyone but me if it goes nowhere. I've really got into an acoustic mood lately and my 12 string is pretty much all I play. I love guitar and I love singing, although you may not enjoy hearing it, but that is all music is about, enjoying yourself.
The song Forget All The Regret was an idea given to me by an apparent fan of mine (sounds odd saying that lol) because she has a friend going through the issue of teenage pregnancy. She challenged me to write a song about it so I thought I'd step up to it. This is the first take of it and there is drums i want to add to it near the end. I tried to write this song from 3 point of views. The first verse is about the girl not wanting to grow up but making a mistake, the first chorus about how the parents feel about the situation, the second verse is about how everything will work out ok and the second chorus from the teenage parents point of view.
This Time I've Won is not written from experience at all, but I was lying in bed one day, trying to get some sleep and had this tune floating round in my head, pretty much the whole thing was, it was one of the rare moments where you know you must get up and write it down and don't stop playing till you get it how you want it. This is also one of the rare ones that only take a short while to write too, I think it was almost finished in 30-50 mins.
Why Can't It Be Like This Everyday is alot lighter than my other tunes, (lyrically and melodically) as well as me having a go at harmonica (or the "Gob Iron" as my hombre Daz refers to it) This is recorded live from my bedroom in one take, I got a bit of a one man band thing goin on, minus the big string operated drum on my back.
All This Is New To Me is a song written from the point of view of a baby and it's relationship with it's mother. This is probably not instantly obvious lol. But I asked a freind of mine to come up with a subject to write about and this seemed like a challenge. Hopefully I passed :)
Anyway thankyou very much for listening to my warblings, any feedback would be cool (good or bad) as long as it's honest. And look I know I ain't got the best voice ever but that isn't what I'm trying to get across, I just want people to like the songs I write and hum along to as they go about their day. Once again thankyou and enjoy.
