Don't be misled by our name. We are not a Christian band. None of us are members of the Pentecostal church. The Pentecost has a lot of different meanings depending on which sect you ask, the most common being the story of how tongues of fire appeared out of the 12 apostles' heads, and they each spoke in a different language and could understand one another. Other sects believe it's the Day of Judgment or the apocalypse. Either way, we liked the concept so The Machine was born.
Pentecostal Flying Machine is comprised of Travis Hagan on drums, Amy "Melodamyus" Gormley on bass and vocals, and Ray McNamara on guitar and vocals. Using intricate chord structures and bizarre rhythmic themes, we make our music with the intent of creating a body of work that is new, not recycling the same two chord progressions that have seized the radio airwaves. With classical training and backgrounds in art rock, jazz, jam bands, and straight-up rock groups, this goal is coming together much more fluidly than expected.
