I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I, am a potlucker!! Wanna know about it? Ask me, it's all about meeting new people and having alternatives for socializing. If it sounds a little tame, I'll tell you sometime about the potluck where the police came looking for the people who had been out mooning traffic...Otherwise... Just trying to be myself, meet some friends, live my life, discover new things. I'm not looking for a particular sort of friend, just people who can be themselves, enjoy new things, are open-minded (I guess those go hand-in-hand), and although may be critical of things that don't work in the world, are interested in being part of a solution. Progressive, not regressive or agressive.

I own 90+ head scarves. At first they were bought with the plan of one day having a 1972 convertible Cadi, which would require the need of headscarves and lots of amazing sunglasses. Not sure if I want one anymore (okay, maybe if it's canary yellow), but love those scarves!
I never paint my fingernails, but I can't imagine not painting my toenails.
Other than that, here's some stuff to think about:
"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget." - Arundhati Roy
Oh yeah, and I'm a casual, no-nonsense, earth-loving pagan. I believe in the magic of everyday things: Smiles, comfort food, music, dancing, selfless acts as well as blatant self-indulgence, art, hand-written letters, books, sex, a glass of good wine, dishwashers, laughing much and effective communication.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People interested in the world, how it works and/or how it doesn't work. People who read, think and have traveled at least a bit beyond where they were born. Other people who dress like distracted field anthropologists. And, people who love order but can still embrace chaos and run with it. That probably equals anyone who works in the restaurant industry.

My Blog

what's new...

...so much!!France might wait, or might not, but Morocco is just a year away! Northwest String Summit in July, maybe a couple other bluegrass festivals in between, selling my hair flowers from a blank...

Actually I'm thinking late winter/early spring of 2012. The plan is to stay about 6 months. Probably a quick trip before then to get a good feel for where I want to go. I'm going to go discover the ...

It isn't just because of where I work that has brought me to what I'm about to say. Natural foods are good and important. I've been thinking hard about what I put into my body and how I treat our worl...

la la la la.... la

Okay, so it's obvious that five days off leads to too much blogging. A person with low energy from being sick can only clean a little, and then the reading and searching for new and amazing things on ...

Nesting, and Happy New Year!!

Despite my feelings of deep regret for the last year, I have a lot to be thankful for. I've been able to establish a sense of self that I never had before. That's probably the most significant thing e...

What a year

I'm not sad to see this year go, I'd love to forget it completely. There are things I would pull out of it, if I only I could edit it, and do so much differently. I'm not sure I've ever had more deep ...

Tumbleweed love

I love: My family. Tumbleweeds.  Sitting in the car stopped at a train crossing, while a train covered in grafitti zooms by. Always makes me feel like another dimension, a bi...

I like . . .

. . . to have the window cracked open a tiny bit when the wind is blowing, as it is right now. I love how it heightens the feeling of comfort of being warm and inside.

Frankenwheel

Yay! I did it... I made one usable spinning wheel out of two unusable ones. A few months ago I had bought a spinning wheel at a thrift store that was the same as one I own, but that had a m...
