"An iconoclasm is by definition a challenging and overturning of traditional beliefs, customs and values. Massachusetts straight edge crew The Effort have taken this mission on board and made it their job to change the world. The heavy, heartfelt lyrical content reflects personal struggles as well as global issues. “Born Again Presidency†is one of the most passionate songs I have ever heard ,while other highlights included “And To Think†and track 10 “Tips And Directions†that took me back to One King Down’s ep Bloodlust Revenge. Iconoclasm is an emotionally charged moral crusade that is as much an epic h/c statement as it is a social commentary."

"Lyrics throughout the record angrily touch on divorce, self-motivation, the reasons behind the choice to be drug free, voting, and the separation between church and state – all relatable on one level or another. The intelligent lyrics are like poetry – they often rhyme and are given a catchy rhythm over the melodic beat – beckoning you to sing along while you bob your head..."

"...I was hoping for an interesting and energetic slab of hardcore and that is exactly what the band provided. Slightly similar to early Comeback Kid at times, the band has a sound that is surprisingly varied tempo wise. In fact the opening intro is slow and sample filled while the opening song is much more brooding with heavier riffs and sincere yet shouting vocals. With the third song the band kicks up the tempo temporarily but the tempo variation continues as the band showcases the fact that they aren't content with playing simplified music. This certainly proves that not all hardcore songs consist of three chords and a one note breakdown..."

“Out of every hardcore album I've heard in 08, this album still manages to top all of them…nothing has captured me as much as "Iconoclasm." The Effort, in my opinion, will be the next big thing in Hardcore. This album is way too good to be ignored.â€

“…with their first LP "Iconoclasm" they have proven themselves as one of the few remaining bands that have that fire and passion for hardcore…The Effort have proven that they are the most sincere hardcore band going today and show no signs of stopping, gaining popularity almost everywhere.â€

"Bands like the Effort are why I love living in New England. They are a new form of hardcore taking influences from integrity, youth-crew bands, old agnostic front, post hardcore, and that feeling from bands like outbreak that someone is going to have a nervous breakdown. Not sure how to classify bands like them...."
