By the age of two, Jessica Lozano was already listening to the sounds of Stevie Wonder to Pink Floyd. There was no doubt she was going to explore music to its fullest. Being the only child, there was not much to do but play her small radio to herself. At the young age of seven she was enrolled in piano lessons. For a seven year old, learning scales wasn't the most exciting activity to do, but gave her the skill to imitate the sounds of Depeche Mode and New Order on her cheap Yamaha keyboard.Between junior high and high school, Jessica expanded her education in music by playing all woodwind instruments. Winning contest and awards was not enough; she wanted to expand her love for music. She started by joining an Afro-Cuban percussion based group where she would study the sounds of Latin, Cuban, jazzy music. Playing percussion instruments was intriguing, fun, challenging, and it kept her motivated in her music education.Following strict rules at home, Jessica was not able to go to clubs or underground parties like most of her friends. The only thing she had was her radio and blank tapes to tape late night sessions airing live from local dance clubs. After graduation, she was able to explore more about the music she was hearing and loving so much. Going to parties and clubs was driving her to find her unknown skill. Jessica began to appreciate DJing in a different sense when she realized that she wanted to make someone feel what she felt on the dance floor. It wasn't until 2000 that Jessica bought her first pair of turntables. Mastering the skill was no problem, but she knew there was so much more to DJing than mixing two records together. Trying to find her style, she fell into different genres of house, ranging from deep to disco to techy sounds of house. Very confused on where to focus, she continued to keep her styles wide open to the house genre. The only thing that can string her thought out music was the funky booty bouncin' bass lines tying everything together. She now has her way on the dance floor, and continues to splash on everyone's taste buds. Jessica also hosts and DJs the thriving monthly, 'Les Femmes De La Nuit,' a Houston premiere all-female DJ rendezvous. She has also performed for Spoiled Boyz after-hour parties that can keep you dancing till the sun surprises you. Jessica was also the winner of the 2007 Houston Press Spin Off, where she got represent Houston at the Winter Music Conference closing festival, Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Fl. Dj's and bands such as The cure, Roger Sanchez, Tiesto, Josh Wink, and Danny Tenaglia were just a few of the names that were also performers at the Ultra Festival. Jessica has opened up for Gabriel and Dresden, Bad Boy Bill, and has also performed at respected parties in Houston such as Alchemia, Open House, Sideways @ the Flat, Pria Urbana, Rent, Tastylick and Choice Sundays. You can now check out Jessica for Sunset Sessions at Mosaic where she will take you on a musical journey through sundown.m
